Weekly Wisdom #325 - The most useful meta-skill I've learned
Process Optimization, AI Browsers & Picking Great Projects
Happy Wednesday!
One of the most useful skills you can develop is process optimization.
It sounds boring, but there are few things I've found more valuable in my life.
In simple terms, what it comes down to is:
Noticing something that's painful/causing friction/annoying/using up time
Figuring out an improvement and implementing it
Repeat
In other words, it's a lot like learning, which might look something like:
Find something you don't know/understand
Work to understand it
Repeat the process
Part of what makes it so useful is the universal applicability of the skill.
In the past few months, it's been core to many of the things I've been pursuing:
Learning to build software products with the latest AI tools
Learning to build physical buildings
Building healthier habits
It's also a critical skill in learning to identify business ideas, which all start with a problem to be solved, figuring out how to solve it, and then monetizing that solution.
The faster you can identify and fix friction points in your life, the more progress you'll make.
Ultimately, everything is a process.
Have a great week!

💻 Perplexity Comet browser - AI company Perplexity has released their new browser, Comet.
The AI chat interface lives next to your browsing, and has context on everything you're looking at, so it can serve a variety of purposes.
Some of the cooler ones:
Can use it as a learning tool while browsing, explaining things, summarizing things, etc. (even works with YouTube)
Can manage your tabs for you, grouping and suggesting closures, etc.
Can read your inbox and suggest replies
Can take action for you, scheduling meetings or sending emails, or filling out forms and booking travel
Easy shopping comparisons
All kinds of things. It's interesting to see AI tools like this begin to get integrated more and more in the core areas we're using to being online.
(As I write this, odds are that OpenAI will be releasing a browser soon too)

This mini-essay from Shaan Puri caught my eye, and I agree with much of what he's saying: we're happiest when engaged with a project:

"A man is the sum of his projects"
This has been my motto for the past year.
it doesn't matter if you're building rockets to go to mars or building model trains in the basement.
man is happiest when fully engaged in a project.
WHICH PROJECT?
picking worthy projects
