Personality Tests, Alternative Relationships, Good News Stories, Lambda School & Hip Hop Vocabularies
I hope you're having a great week! Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Blog Post I Wrote:The Complete Guide to Personality Tests
Succeeding in life often comes from understanding your strengths and weaknesses. In this post, I explore the various personality tests I've explored and used to better understand myself and my thinking.
Book Notes I Added:The Truth by Neil Strauss - A book about exploring alternative relationship styles and his own psychology in the search for the perfect relationship and love. Very entertaining and easy to read.
A Place of My Own by Michael Pollan - This book reminded me what great writing looks like. Pollan's tale of designing and building his writing cabin. I've been thinking about a similar project for some time and identified heavily with the story.
Articles I'm Reading:
- The Three Kinds of People Who Live in the United States - The Atlantic - this article from 2013 is related to my post, and classifies people in the US based on empirical personality data.
- 99 Good News Stories You Probably Didn't Hear About in 2018 - I generally avoid the news, partially because it tends to be negative. Here are some positive stories from 2018!
- No Tuition, but You Pay a Percentage of Your Income (if You Find a Job) - NY Times - Lambda School, whose founder I interviewed on the Starting Stories podcast, just raised $30M for expansion. Big things coming from them.
- The Largest Vocabulary in Hip Hop - A fun look at the rappers with the highest vocabularies.
Song I'm Listening To: Better Now - BECCA
My friend Becca just released another single - she sounds like Alicia Keys, right?
Have a great week!
Graham
