Beckham, Psychology Myths, & Travel Bags
Late yet again, but it's been a busy week with the holidays. Happy Canada Day to Canadians, and happy 4th to all my American friends. I hope you all get some time to relax!
Articles I'm Reading:
- 16 Popular Psychology Myths You Probably Still Believe - Nat Eliason: interesting rundown of some popular psychology studies that may not be so valid, and the reasons why.
- Amazon just made an eye-popping play to disrupt drug stores - Vox:Big news for Boston startup PillPack, which went through Techstars Boston (where I worked) - they got acquired by Amazon. The Amazon effect: "The news was considered so disruptive that shares for Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid immediately lost $11 billion in value."
- How David Beckham Became the Most Marketable Man in the World - Racked: Interesting profile of how David Beckham has evolved his career over time.
Book I'm Reading:Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman
A dense book on how we think and make decisions from the perspective of "System One" - fast/intuitive/"animal" brain - and "System Two" - our logical, deliberate mind. A long book, but very interesting read.
Product I'm Using:Aer Flight Pack
I got this as a daily carry/travel bag, and so far I'm loving it. Aer has some great-looking bags that I've been wanting to try out, and so far this hasn't disappointed. One feature that sold me was the ability to use it as a shoulder bag, which I've been wanting for when I travel for work, particularly to conferences and meetings, and don't want to be the guy carrying the backpack around.
Have a great week!
Graham
