Ambition vs. Happiness, Myopia and Sleep Tools

ByGraham Mann

I hope you're having a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:

Blog Post I Wrote:How to Balance Ambition & Happiness
In my latest post, I talk about how I've found a balance between day-to-day satisfaction and ambition for bigger things, something I think most ambitious people struggle with.

Articles I'm Reading:

  • The myopia boom - Nature - a potential explanation for the relatively recent boom in blurry distance vision. Particularly relevant for me, given I just got glasses for this exact thing.
  • Definitive List of 50 Books to Understand Everything in the Universe - Hemant Mohapatra - a big list of book recommendations for building knowledge and wisdom. I've read maybe 20% of the list so far.
  • How Batteries Went From Primitive Power to Global Domination - Bloomberg - Battery prices continue to tumble, driven by electric cars (and Tesla/Elon's Gigafactory).

Products I'm Using:Silicon Earplugs + Blackout Material
I continue to try and get the best sleep possible, and these two products have helped immensely. I'd originally covered my window with aluminum foil, but the air conditioner meant the pressure was always changing with the weather/wind, and it kept crinkling. I replaced it with this blackout material and it's been awesome. Pitch black any time of day now.

This type of earplugs is new for me, but don't push into the ear when you sleep on the side of your head, making for a much more enjoyable experience.

Have a great week!
