Love for Canada, Google's AI, Whiteboards & Times Square
I hope you're having a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Articles I'm Reading: This week is a bit tech-heavy, but there's been a lot of love for Canada recently among investors, and I wanted to share!
- Canada Is Going To Be The Next, Great, Entrepreneurial Tech Country - Brad Feld:Brad is one of the founders of Techstars, and a prolific investor, and he shares why he believes Canada is poised for growth.
- Canada - Fred Wilson: Fred is another prolific investor with Union Square Ventures, and he's also positive about Canada.
- Golden Ventures announces new $72M seed fund
- 16 Eastern Canadian startups pitching at Volta: some highlights here include electric drives for boats, contact lenses for color blindness, and the watersports version of Fitbit/Strava
- Engineers Are Leaving Trump’s America for the Canadian Dream: Bloomberg piece that inspired some of the above blog posts.
Video I'm Watching:Google just gave a stunning demo of Assistant making an actual phone call
This is crazy. The short version is that Google's AI product can now make phone calls and interact with humans. What's crazy is how natural it sounds, and how it can adapt on the fly when things like restaurant reservations don't go well (see video).
Product I'm Using:Post-It Dry Erase Surface, 4 x 3 ft
I wanted something to write on while thinking in my office, and a coworker swears by these. This one in particular has been fantastic so far, was easy to install, and is barely noticeable on my white wall.
Favourite Photo from the Week: Times Square
We had a team building weekend in NYC, and I got out for a couple hours to take some photos. This one captures most things I think of when I think NYC:

Have a great week!
