Real-Life Heroes, Drone Sailboats, and Becoming a Master
I hope you're having a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:
Articles I'm Reading:
- He donated blood every week for 60 years and saved the lives of 2.4 million babies - This guy is a real-life hero.
- Canada’s plan for managing the return of ISIS fighters revealed in documents - Fascinating look at how Canada manages foreign fighters returning to the country.
- Quora: Has a commercial aeroplane ever been stolen from an airport?- A fun diversion from Quora on airplane theft.
- Saildrone announces $60M Series B - I love pretty much everything about this company, from the awesome tech, to the fact it's a sailing startup, to their mission to both make money and help the ocean. Great to see them continuing to scale.
Book Notes:Mastery - Robert Greene
This is one of the best books I've ever read. Fantastic resource on how to navigate your career, how to learn, and ultimately, how to master a skill and become successful.
Product I'm Using:Men's Cedar Shoe Trees
Shoe care seems to be one of those skills that is on the decline, but I was reminded how big a difference it can make when I cleaned & waxed (using Sno Seal) my winter boots this weekend. I got a couple of these shoe trees for them as well, and I'm going to be getting a new set for every new pair of shoes I get from now on. They help your shoes keep shape, smell better, and generally age slower.
Fun Activity I Did This Week: Sports de Combats
Yesterday a bunch of friends and I went to this place and it was a blast. We did axe and knife-throwing, and then some archery tag, and spent three hours there. If you're in Montreal, this is a great place to go, otherwise I'd highly recommend getting a group together and finding one near you.
Have a great week!
Graham
