Weekly Mix #196 - Building Online, Simplicity, Farming & Life Lessons
Happy Tuesday!
One of the core principles of The Inner Game of Golf is that our perception of "good" and "bad" play, in golf or any other sport, is often the result of our own judgment.
The Stoics felt similarly. Things that happen to us are just that—things. Whether they are good or bad is a matter of our own judgment.
What's interesting about golf is how quickly we seem to allow the influence of others to affect us.
Those playing with us make a small comment that perceives how we think we're playing. Or even worse, we think those playing with us perceive us some way, and judge our play according to that assumption.
This happens all the time, and not only in golf.
We worry about what those around us think.
We let our peers' judgment influence our own.
This isn't always a bad thing. It's why surrounding yourself with good people—friends, family, etc.—is so important.
But it happens so quickly, and so easily, that we should work hard to identify when it happens.
Have a wonderful week!
Graham

In this short essay, David lays out how you can create an online product.
📖 Read Something Great - This website serves up 5 great articles for you to read at a time. You can hit refresh whenever you want. A great way to spend a little break from work instead of jumping on social media.
📖 Practicing Simplicity - The Simplicity Collective - I think about living simply almost constantly. What is required for a happy life? What is a nice balance between minimalism and spending on things I enjoy? This piece covers the basics of living "simply," and is sprinkled with Thoreau quotes for good measure.
🍿 Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime - I've been a fan of Top Gear and The Grand Tour for a long time. The latest series from host Jeremy Clarkson is about neither; it's about farming. And it's fascinating. The series follows him as he learns about farming, including the machines and decisions requires, and the financials too.
