Being Unreachable, Amazon Lessons, & How to Have Better Ideas

ByGraham Mann

I had a more relaxed weekend than usual, visiting friends, going for walks, and doing some errands.

This kind of activity usually feels unproductive to me; I feel like I should be writing, or producing something, or working to improve myself.

It's a feeling that has increased during the pandemic, which for most of us has meant less social time and more time near a computer.

I don't know what the answer is, but I'm hoping warmer weather and activities outside with friends will help me get better at escaping the feeling I need to always be productive.

Two things of note:

  • Ship 30 for 30, the 30-day writing challenge I'm a big fan of, is opening up registration for their May cohort. You can get $20 off here. Highly recommend it if you're looking to build a writing habit, or increase your writing confidence.
  • The 10 Tweets section is full of great stuff this week, so I'd encourage you to check it out.

What I Worked On

  • Podcast: Added new episodes to my Personal Podcast, like how to have better ideas and how to truly 10x your productivity.

Have a wonderful week!

📖 Why I'm unreachable and you should be too - Pieter Levels - Pieter is a digital nomad and product builder who has build all kinds of products online. He makes the case for why we should all be a little harder to reach.

📖 Mailbag #2 - Wait But Why - Tim Urban is one of my favourite authors, and he's back for a round of Q&A on everything from "What age do you think you'll die?" to "How do you fall asleep?" Highly entertaining.

📖 Why you should become a deep generalist, not a specialist - Aytekin Tank- The question of generalist vs. specialist is one with no single answer; it's a personal choice. The deep generalist is a good model for me.

📖 How to Become Insanely Well-Connected - First Round - Most networking advice can be skipped; the tricky part is the execution. This is probably the only article you need to read, the rest is about putting it into practice.

📖 A list of effective psychological tricks - A surprisingly useful list of tricks curated from the most upvoted comments on a Reddit thread.
