Selling Car Data, Antifragile, Social Media, Impossible Burger Dangers & Trillion-Dollar Coach

Happy Wednesday !

I hope you're having a great week! Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:

Book Notes I Added: Antifragile - Nassim Nicholas Taleb

One of the most influential books I've ever read. Taleb's views on everything from markets to government will change your perception of these systems, and how to think about them. Highly recommend.

Articles I'm Reading:

Data collected by connected cars ends up with carmakers, not consumers - The Hustle - Under the category of "things that seem like they should be private but aren't", car data is booming. Connected cars have introduced a new data source that is very personal, and very valuable.

Social media’s enduring effect on adolescent life satisfaction - I can't say I understand the statistics behind this, but the takeaway is that there is still much to be learned about social media's impact, and it may not be negative.

GMO Impossible Burger Positive for Carcinogenic Glyphosate - Again, I can't speak to the rigor of the science behind this test. What I do agree with is the concept that we don't fully understand the consequences of newly created food. I struggle to reconcile this with changing eating habits to protect the environment. The solution I usually return to: more veggies.

The Bizarre, Bony-Looking Future of Alorithmic Design - Wired - Fascinating look at design that mimics biology, and comes up with designs that mirror biological designs. From the article, “We’re essentially running accelerated artificial evolution".

Book I'm Reading: Trillion-Dollar Coach - Eric Schmidt

This book is about Bill Campbell, a former football coach turned executive coach. He simultaneously coached top executives at Apple and Google, among many others, and refused to be paid a dime. A good introduction is this Tim Ferriss podcast episode.

Have a great week!

Graham
