Psychiatry, Overlooked Skills, Drawing, and the Optimal Time for Everything
Happy Wednesday !
I hope you're having a great week! Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Book Notes: Tools of Titans - Tim Ferriss
A massive book that I revisited recently, this is full of good stuff. There's something in here for whatever situation you're in.
Articles I'm Reading:
Everything should take 20 minutes - Brandy Jensen - I agree with the premise. Not only should most things only take 20 minutes, but assuming something will take 20 minutes makes it much less intimidating (and therefore easier to start).
A Nobel Prize-winning psychologist says most people don’t really want to be happy - Quartz - The distinction between satisfaction and happiness is one that needs to be understood. Daniel Kahneman is always worth listening to as well.
Psychiatry's Incurable Hubris - The Atlantic - A good reminder that a lot of the things we think we know, we actually don't. And also how professional organizations can often obscure how much we actually know about something.
Useful and Overlooked Skills - Morgan Housel - "Respecting luck as much as you respect risk" might be the best tidbit, but all are good.
Drawing a bee on an iPad - I love these videos of drawing on iPads. Wish I could do it myself.
The emotional video of creating anything great - Love this graphic.
Product I'm Using: Oristand Standing Desk
I've been a big fan of standing desks for a while now, having built my first one almost two years ago. When I moved to Boston a couple months ago, I didn't have one, and after getting tired of sitting, bought one of these. It's awesome. It can be set up and taken down in 30 seconds, and supports my monitor no problem. And only $25 (plus shipping).
Song I'm Listening To: Montreal (Tep No Remix) - Port Cities
I saw Port Cities over Christmas and they were fantastic. This is great remix (the original is good too).
Have a great week!
Graham
