Digital Minimalism, Machine Learning & Wind Energy

ByGraham Mann

I hope you're having a great week! Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:

Book Notes I Added:Digital Minimalism - Cal Newport
There was valuable content in this book, though I thought it was longer than it needed to be. To be fair, I was fairly familiar with the current issues surrounding technology and social media use, so if you aren't, it's worth a read (and relatively short). It pairs well with the article I included last week on How to Configure Your iPhone to Work for You, Not Against You, and the podcast listed below.

Podcast I Enjoyed: What is Technology Doing to Us? - Sam Harris & Tristan Harris
This podcast features Tristan Harris (unrelated to Sam), who used to be "Design Ethicist" at Google, before creating a non-profit dedicated to better incentives and design practices for spending our time better. An interesting conversation about how we might alternatively think about building applications and media that are designed to benefit us. One of my favorite things is that they discuss possible solutions to our technology issues from a design perspective, rather than just continuing to highlight problems.

Articles I'm Reading:

Song I'm Listening To: Ghost Voices (Lane 8 Remix) - Virtual Self
One of my new favorites on my Flow playlist.

Have a great week!
