Psychology of Persuasion, Great Whites, & Kitesurfing in Scotland
I hope you're having a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Book Notes:Poor Charlie's Almanack & Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion
Poor Charlie's Almanack is one of the best books on improving your own thinking, and both books are a great introduction to "mental models" - thinking tools that can help you make better decisions throughout your life. Influence is a must-read for anyone involved in marketing and sales, though will be useful for all. Recommend both.
Articles I'm Reading:
- Meet Nova and Jefferson : OCEARCH tags two great whites in Nova Scotian waters - Halifax Today: Ocearch is a research group tagging primarily sharks worldwide, to learn more about them. They recently began looking for sharks near where I grew up, and tagged two great whites the other day - 11ft and 12.5+ft respectively. Fascinating to see them, though no doubt there are many more than the ones they tag around, and have been for thousands of years.
- Mark Brown's tweet on AI car avoidance - Twitter: this tweet caused me no end of entertainment...very funny to watch.
- Lego built a Bugatti Chiron - Twitter: if you're wondering what childhood me would have said was his dream job (had he known it existed), this is probably it. Super cool project.
What I'm Watching:Manera - Islands of the Strangers
This 9-minute film, primarily shot in the Hebridean islands of Scotland features some amazing kiteboarding and surf footage, all surrounded by stunning landscapes.
Have a great week!
Graham
