Habits vs. Goals, The Defining Decade, Travel Packs & Couples Therapy
Happy Wednesday !
I hope you're having a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:
Articles I'm Reading:
Habits vs. Goals: A Look at the Benefits of a Systematic Approach to Life - Farnam Street - very quick, insightful article about the benefits of habits and systems vs. goals.
How to Use Thought Experiments to De-Risk Your Startup - Great series of questions to ask yourself to challenge the assumptions you have about your startup.
Book I'm Reading: The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter-And How to Make the Most of Them Now - Meg Jay
I just finished this and will have notes up next week, but this book was a pleasant surprise. Written by a clinical psychologist, it's a mix of science and anecdotes about love, life, health and how these are affected by the choices we make in our twenties. I was pleasantly surprised about some things (that I've done well) and not-so-pleasantly surprised about other things (that I'm not doing so well). Either way, a quick, easy read that I'd highly recommend for anyone in their 20s, or for parents with kids in that age range.
Product I'm Using: Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Pack
I just ordered this after selling my Farpoint 55 pack (slightly larger), which wouldn't fit on carry-on. This pack won for me with the Aer Travel Pack being a close second (I love a lot of Aer stuff). I managed to get it from REI on sale, but you can also now order it from MEC if you're in Canada. I've had several friends recommend it highly as a travel pack, and I plan to use it as a combo travel/camera bag.
Podcast I'm Listening To: Couples Therapy with Candice and Casey
I've mostly stopped watching Casey Neistat's YouTube videos, but his new podcast with his wife Candice is great. I've been thinking a lot about relationships lately and this podcast is them talking about their own relationship challenges, their therapy, and how their relationship has evolved over the years. Particularly relevant for professional couples who are extremely busy (and it's funny too).
Have a great week!
Graham
