April 11
I hope you've had a great week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:
Podcast: Starting Stories Ep. #6 - Dave Rafuse of Blended Athletics
I really enjoyed this podcast with Dave, who is the owner of Blended Athletics, a primarily CrossFit gym in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He's joined by my longtime friend Matt Taylor, who is a trainer there, and we talk about his sales experience after university, and the founding of Blended. Don't forget to leave a review wherever you listen!
Articles:
- Yes, You Should Delete Facebook. Here's Why - I'm undecided on where I stand on the whole data privacy issue, but this is a pretty compelling argument we should be against allowing companies to gather too much personalized data.
- Steps to autonomy - Pretty clear outline of how complex the autonomy issue is, and why the answers aren't easy or predictable.
- Non-tech businesses are beginning to use artificial intelligence at scale - AI is all the rage at the moment, and while general AI is a long way off, specific applications are becoming widespread.
- What skill should I learn for 1-2 hours a day, that will help me become successful? - This is one I keep going back to.
Book Notes:
- 12 Rules for Life - Jordan Peterson - I was a bit conflicted about this book; great content, but difficult to parse.
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - Mark Mason - I usually point people to this book when they're struggling through something, whether a breakup or work setback.
Have a great week!
Graham
