Book Notes, Conspiracy, Electric Cars & Poor Grades
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Blog Post:How to Take Book Notes
This week I wrote detailed instructions on how to replicate the process I currently use to take notes on books to help with retention and linking ideas while you read.
Articles:
- Poor grades tied to class times that don’t match our biological clocks - Perhaps an unsurprising finding, but another example of designing your environment to be successful (and knowing yourself).
- New Data Show Electric Vehicles Continue to Get Cleaner - I'd like to write a longer post about this at some point, but the bottom line is: electric cars are cleaner than gas ones, no matter where you get your power. For example, Nova Scotia gets ~28% of power from renewable sources, on par with Oklahoma, and the average electric car gets 50MPG equivalent, which in Canadian terms is 4.7 L/100km. No gas-only car gets close. Also, electric cars get cleaner as power sources improve, while gas cars generally get worse as they age.
Book Notes:Conspiracy - Ryan Holiday
A break from Ryan Holiday's usual, this is a non-fiction book that reads like fiction, telling the story of how billionaire Peter Thiel forced Gawker into bankruptcy. Fascinating, great to listen to as an audiobook, and will get you thinking about how to plan and execute better.
Instagram Post: Chris Burkard - Volcanoes in Alaska
I didn't even know there were active volcanoes in Alaska, but this footage is stunning.
Have a great week!
Graham
