Radical Education, Facebook, Skin in the Game Notes

ByGraham Mann

I hope you're having a great start to the week. Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:

Articles:

Book Notes:Skin in the Game - Nassim Nicholas Taleb
It's taken me a while to push through getting these notes up, as I read three of NNT's books in the last few weeks, and they've radically shifted my thinking on a variety of issues, including finance and education. This is his latest book, and ties together many of his ideas, though you should really read The Black Swan and Antifragile too.

Product:Lambda School
I've followed the progress of Lambda School and Austen Allred, it's founder, for a while. It's six months of intensive training in computer science with the goal of getting you employed, and you don't pay a thing until you get a job at greater than $50K/yr, at which point you pay 17% of your salary for two years, capped at $30K. My thinking has shifted in the last few years as I've questioned what university education has really become, and honestly, I think I'd be recommending Lambda School over university for someone who's main goal is getting employed. Just the beginning of what I think will be a radical shift in education in the coming years.

Have a great week!
