Weekly Mix #206 - Why you have a goal management problem, not a time management one

Distraction, NFTs, Tools for Thinking & 9/11

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you had a good long weekend wherever you are.

My weekend was a nice mix of golf, biking, time with family and friends, and relaxation, which is a pretty ideal mix.

It's feeling like fall here in Nova Scotia, which is an exciting time; the change of seasons and the start of the school year feels like a good time to refocus and reprioritize.

Have a great week!

Graham

📖 Distraction - Chris Williamson - This piece from Chris Williamson's 3 Minute Monday newsletter caught me. "Most people who say they have a time management problem actually have a goal management problem."

📖 Loot is a viral social network that looks like nothing you've ever seen - The Verge - I've been reading more about NFTs and crypto in general lately, in an effort to keep up-to-date...but it's hard. This is one of the projects that recently went viral, and it both highlights the creativity of these projects, and the difficulty for someone like me (a non-gamer) to comprehend the motivation and money involved.

📖 Write something - Seth Godin - I might print this off and tape it to my computer monitor.

🏠 The Brook - Small - I remain intrigued by tiny homes, in large part because of how much they manage to accomplish in such a small footprint. This is one of the most impressive I've seen, and I love the combination of dark colors and wood.

🔧 Untools - This website is full of "tools for better thinking"; most are related to systems thinking, decision making and problem solving, and all are excellent.

🍿 Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror - Netflix - I blitzed through this 5-part documentary series this week; it was well done. It had a clear anti-war stance, but covered the roots of 9/11 and the most recent developments on the War in Afghanistan well. Will make you think about how 9/11 changed Western culture and the asymmetric effects of new policies and decisions.
