Why We Sleep, The Growth Process, Writing & Deliberate Practice

Happy Thursday !

Yet again I find myself sending this on Thursday, but hopefully we'll be back to Wednesday next week. I hope you've had a great week regardless!

Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:

Blog Post I Wrote: The Growth Process (for Startups)

Following up on my What is Growth? post from last week, this post goes into more detail about the growth process, and expands upon the steps I laid out last time.

Book Notes I Added: Why We Sleep - Matthew Walker

The most comprehensive book on sleep I've ever read. Recommended for all, as it's becoming clear there are very few areas of life (if any) that aren't affected by sleep.

Articles I'm Reading:

Why You Should Write - David Perell - I've seen this feedback in action through my own writing - highly recommend, even if you don't publish at first.

One Money Question to Rule Them All: How Much is Enough? - NYT - I enjoyed this piece, which explores the question that probably isn't asked enough - how much is enough?

Electric car charge points to be installed in every new UK home - AE - The UK is debating making it mandatory to install electric car chargers in all new homes. Love seeing progress on this front.

How I practice what I do - Tyler Cowen - Deliberate practice is well-known in sports and music, but it's relevant for knowledge workers too. Tyler runs through how he practices himself.

Eight Things I Learned from Peter Thiel's Zero to One - Farnam Street - If you haven't read Zero to One, Peter Thiel is a billionaire investor known for his contrarian thinking. I enjoyed this recap. You can read my notes here.

Product I'm Watching: Awair Glow C

I wrote a review of the Awair 2nd Edition, and they've just come out with an updated version of their lower-cost monitor, the Glow C. I've been using mine, along with a smart plug, to automatically lower the humidity and temperature (by turning on my air conditioner) when it gets too hot in my apartment. The Glow C will serve as a smart plug and air quality monitor. Extra $5 off with code GETGLOWC.

Song I'm Listening To: GRAE - Your Hands

Reminds me a bit of Billie Eilish - great vocals and a big bassline.

Have a great week!

Graham
