The Game-Changing Podcast App, Trump's Chances & Cycling Gear

Happy Tuesday !
I hope you had a great couple weeks, and found some time to relax.

I took a few days off for some long weekends, and it seemed to make things even crazier at work. A couple of those weeks where you feel constantly behind, just on this side of mayhem. Normally I'd have time to take a day or two and get ahead again with some longer hours, but I've been trying to embrace all the beautiful weather we've had.

A bit of a catch-22 given that doing that seems to contribute to feeling behind, but ah well!

Glad to be back to writing the newsletter.

A quick note: you will receive another email from me this week, from my new email address: graham@grahammann.net. This is the email I'll be using for newsletters from now on. I'll include instructions on what to do to make sure you get these emails from the new address, but this is a heads up to keep an eye out for it.

Product I'm Excited About: Airr + Readwise

I haven't been listening to many podcasts lately. I've been trying out Airr as an alternative podcast player, because I find it frustrating not to be able to save notes when listening to a podcast. The reason I'm so excited is that recently Airr added the ability to save highlights by tapping your earphones. If you have Airpods, it's a triple tap, and if you have anything else, it's the previous track command.

Doing this saves an "Airrquote", which is the previous 45 seconds of the podcast, automatically transcribed. If you integrate Readwise, it sends it directly over!

What this means is that I can bike/walk/do whatever while listening to podcasts, save my favourite bits, and have the transcribed notes ready whenever I next check. Awesome!

What I'm Listening To: My First Million - Andrew Wilkinson Returns

This is a new podcast for me, but I'm a big fan of Andrew Wilkinson, and he delivered in this one. They chat about great cashflow businesses, the VC-backed vs. bootstrapped business models, and what they would do to make millions in a few months.

Article I'm Reading:

It's Way Too Soon to Count Trump Out - Nate Silver - I avoid politics as much as possible, but I do enjoy Nate Silver's work, and he highlights why it's far too soon to count Trump out (a mistake I made in 2016).

Brands I'm Coveting: Tracksmith & Rafa

My friend Gavin (very fast runner) was wearing some Tracksmith gear this weekend, and I was impressed by the quality and feel. It reminded me of another brand we'd talked about in the past, Rafa, who is targeted at cycling.

Not only is the stuff they make beautiful, but they've done a fantastic job building their brand, and producing films and photos that support it. Worth checking out for the brand lessons alone.

Have a great week! (and don't forget to look out for the extra email!)

Graham
