Michael Jordan, Kanye West & Army Ranger School

Happy Wednesday !

I hope you're having a great week! Here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last week:
Series I'm Watching: The Last Dance

I've already mentioned this, but this is the best thing I've watched in a long time. Here is one of the most powerful 2-minute clips from the episodes released this week.

Book Notes: Essentialism - Greg McKeown

One of my favourite reads in the last couple years. Essentialism offers a solution to the overload of requests, information, and possible actions in our life, by posing the question: "What is essential?" This will be a book I re-read frequently.

Articles I'm Reading:

Inside Kanye West's Vision for the Future - GQ - Kanye is a strange guy, but it's hard to argue with how hard he works. This profile gives a good look at how many different projects he's involved in, and the kind of schedule he keeps.

Army Ranger School Is a Laboratory of Human Endurance - Outside Magazine - I've always been fascinated by military training; in many ways it represents some of the ultimate tests of mental strength. This is a look behind the scenes of Ranger school, written by a former Ranger-turned-journalist.

The Cult of the Costco Surfboard - New Yorker - I'm a proud Wavestorm owner myself, so it's fun to read about the story behind the brand, and some of the anecdotes about how those that surf them are viewed in surf culture.

MBS: The Rise of a Saudi Prince - NYT - I don't follow politics much, but this story is an interesting look at the new ruler of Saudi Arabia, a young prince who grew up far from the throne, but has pushed his way into the top spot.

Cruising Van Nuys Boulevard In The Summer Of 1972 In Stunning Black And White Photos By Rick McCloskey - If you're looking forward to summer, these probably won't help; a nostalgic look at the car culture in LA suburbs in the 1970s.

An Architect Crafts an Off-Grid Cabin on His Family Farm in Ohio - Dwell - I've spent a lot of time thinking about, and designing, a potential future house for myself. A lot of that thinking is around what is necessary in a home, reducing my own impact, and being responsible financially. This kind of place is exactly along those lines.

Have a great week!

Graham
