1-Page Marketing, Prints for Sale, Magic Tricks, Reading Tools and Greatest Innovations of 2018
Happy Wednesday !
I hope you're having a great week! I didn't manage to get an email out last week, but here are some things I've been checking out and working on the last couple weeks:
Book Notes I Added: The 1-Page Marketing Plan & How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling
The 1-Page Marketing Plan turned out to be surprisingly useful. It's concise and actionable, great attributes for any book, and I'd recommend it as a good reference for everyone from small-biz owners to startups scaling.
The second book is considered a sales classic, written by Frank Bettger, a former MLB player turned America's most successful salesman. It was originally published in 1947, and somewhat like How to Win Friends & Influence People, the principles within are relatively simple, but timeless.
Product I'm Selling: 8"x10" Prints - New York, Montreal & Nova Scotia
I'm doing a limited sale of prints this week only (until Sunday, Dec. 9 at midnight). Great Christmas gift for people living in those places!
Things I'm Reading/Watching:
10 Tricks That Prove Ricky Jay's Genius: I enjoyed this video of 10 magic tricks, mostly card-based, from someone considered one of the best ever.
Finally, A Real Solution to Last-Mile Trips: Transit is a company founded in Montreal that produces great Transit directions and maps, and they are now matching up public transit and ride-share for better solutions.
The 100 Greatest Innovations of 2018: Popular Science's yearly list of the coolest innovations. I don't agree with all of them, but no doubt some very cool stuff here.
COLORS YouTube channel: Very cool concept, this channel showcases great new music artists in a simple, color-block recording studio. Great for discovering new artists, and also just beautiful to look at.
Product I'm Using: Readwise
This app automatically imports your article and book highlights from Kindle, iBooks, Instapaper and more. You can then choose to have them automatically exported to Evernote, get daily digests of past highlights, and more. I currently use Pocket for reading articles later, but this may trigger a switch to Instapaper.
Playlist I'm Listening To: [Spoils] All Day // All Night
Mister Spoils is one of the few daily newsletters I read without fail (you can sign up here), and this is their main playlist.
Quote I'm Thinking About:
"One of the major distinctions between successful entrepreneurs and “wantrepreneurs” is that successful entrepreneurs are predominantly content creators whereas wantrepreneurs are predominantly content consumers."
- Allan Dib, The 1-Page Marketing Plan
Have a great week!
