📖 Square Defangs Difficult Decisions with this System - Here's How - First Round Review - Decision-making is a topic I'm always interested in; the outcomes in our life are dictated by two things: the quality of our decisions and luck. Decision-making in a group context is often different, and this piece outlines a good method for those of us who have to make decisions frequently in our professional lives.
📖 A world first: Ocean drone captures video from inside a hurricane - NOAA - I often refer to Saildrone as the company I wish I founded; they make super-cool autonomous sailboats that cruise around the world's oceans collecting data. Now they've sent some into hurricanes in the Atlantic, capturing some cool footage in the process.
📖 99 Sober Activities To Do This Weekend Instead Of Drinking - Emily Torres - "Grabbing a drink" is often the default activity for socializing—particularly, I find, when you're in a city. The effects of alcohol are debated often, because it's such a ubiquitous activity, but we tend to ignore the studies that show it really isn't good for us. I've been sampling a variety of the non-alcoholic beers available, but the reality is that changing consumption is more about changing the default activity. This list is a good place to start.
📖 The Legacy of Daniel Craig's James Bond - GQ - I'm a big Bond fan, and have booked my tickets to go see Daniel Craig's last film this week. This piece, without giving away too much (it does give a hint of what's to come), did well explaining how I felt about Craig's Bond, which I think has been the best to date.
📷 2021 Drone Photo Awards - These drone photos, in a number of different categories, are stunning.
📚 Electrify: An Optimists Playbook for Our Clean Energy Future - Saul Griffith - I just added this book to my reading list, both because I'm interested in what a fully-electric future might look like, but also because I like when people self-identify (explicitly) as optimists.
