A Short, Entertaining One
I hope you had a great weekend!
I got outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and got caught up on some backlog work. As a result, I didn't get as much reading or writing done, which is why this week is brief!
Book Notes I Added:The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle
Interesting read about high-performance cultures, from Pixar to Navy SEALs, and the behaviors and actions you can take to establish a great culture. Puts into words a lot of the things I've noticed about great teams I've worked on, and gave me some specific points to improve too.
Articles I'm Reading:
- How Carlos Ghosn Escaped Japan, According to the Ex-Green Beret Who Snuck Him Out - Vanity Fair - I included this article about Carlos Ghosn, chairman of Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Renault, in a previous newsletter. The story of how the escape was scoped, and the men behind it, is even more fascinating.
- In Electric Car Market, It’s Tesla and a Jumbled Field of Also-Rans - NYT - Tesla stock seems to reflect this lately (or just insanity?), but I'm not surprised at all. Having kept a fairly close eye on the electric car market, I still believe there a bunch of small things that existing carmakers will struggle to escape when it comes to building great electric cars. That, plus the power of a strong brand.
- From Productivity to Psychedelics: Tim Ferriss Has Changed His Mind About Success - GQ - Tim Ferriss is one of the influences I credit getting me into the entrepreneurship space in the first place. It's been interesting to watch his priorities develop over a decade, and this article outlines exactly how.
Have a great week!
Graham
