You're Probably Right
You're Probably Right
Someone recently got offended by something I wrote.
But it was clear that they didn’t read it all. And they misunderstood my intent too.
It’s impossible to control how others perceive us, particularly through mediums like writing.
Arguing with people who aren’t open to changing their mind is pointless.
When an argument is about to start, it’s always a good idea to ask “what would cause you to change your mind about this?”
If they don’t have a good answer, it’s probably not worth arguing.
It’s the same for those who want to criticize, or shout, or find a way to get offended.
The best response is: “you’re probably right.”
Thanks @ShaneAParrish for the inspiration.
