Technology Tradeoffs

Technology Tradeoffs

Technology is not an addiction. At least not for most of us.

Yet we use the word addiction because it absolves us of responsibility. Our overuse of technology is the fault of those who designed the app, or those who built the smartphone.

But these devices also bring a host of benefits that would have been unheard of a few decades a go.

The entire world’s knowledge is at our fingertips, anywhere we go.

We can see things happen in real-time, on the other side of the world.

The barrier to publishing and creating has never been lower.

Technology always provides pros and cons.

In the case of our phones, and social media, the cons are the extra care we must take with our attention.

We must be more responsible for ourselves, and conscious of where we direct our attention.

But surely that price is worth it.
