Moving Fast

Moving Fast

One of the traits I’ve noticed in high performers is a constant desire to move fast.

But not just on the big things. On everything.

They always ask: why can’t we do this sooner?

Small tasks in particular:

Why can’t we launch this tomorrow?

What would prevent you from getting this done today? This week?

David Allen’s 2-minute rule is similar: if a task will take less than 2 minutes, do it right away.

We tend to spend too much time on small things, and not enough time on big things.

It’s a problem common to both tasks and decision-making.

For the big things, take your time. Think it through carefully, and once you’ve made your decision, execute fast.

Spend less time on the small things: figure out how to get them done as quickly as possible.

Your execution speed will increase drastically.
